Challenge By Choice

Delaware Futures juniors traveled to Camp Tockwogh in Worton Maryland to challenge themselves to a low ropes course. The course which is spread out over a wooded area inside the camp challenges its participants both physically and mentally. Every junior took on the challenge and came through with flying colors.

BASSLINE

Delaware Futures was again blessed with a performance from the youth hip-hop group
BassLine. They came and rapped a dozen or so songs from an upcoming cd. The energy was flowing as the students bopped their heads and tapped their feet to the beat. Bassline's music is all positive and is connected to the maturation of today's youth.

Programing Notes

November was a busy month for Delaware Futures students. The juniors were involved with an educational seminar, "
Identifying The Right College". This workshop helped the students brainstorm on the type of college or university that would be a correct fit. All classes took part in our annual Mock Trial interest meeting. The mock trial meeting was a gathering to recruit students for our mock trial team. Delaware Futures takes part in the Delaware Mock Trial competition which includes all high schools in the state of Delaware. Next up was our Food and Nutrition cooking class in which all students got together to learn about and cook foods that are healthy, nutritious and inexpensive. All students had the chance to take part in our YMCA Fitness Program which took place at the central YMCA in downtown Wilmington. Students got the chance to work off some of their Thanksgiving day pounds. At the end of the month Delaware Futures participated in the Judicarta 5K Race. The proceeds from this race benefit the Delaware Law Related Educational Center and the Mock Trial competition.
